About

The Sac Chich Project is a film repertory company. Sharing crew and cast members amongst films, we aim to broaden the scope of stories and access to telling those stories.

We are inspired by practices of collective arts-making and community building and seek to create an actively inclusive collaborative that produces bold and original work by women and People of Color. We believe in teamwork, in scrappiness, in a rejection of the stay-in-your-lane-and-wait-till-someone-else-greenlights-your-project ethos that all-too-frequently is the unquestioned status quo.

In our 2021 inaugural season, we traveled to a small pueblo in the Yucatán Peninsula and made 3 short films in 11 days. By 2022 the films were finished and began the festival submission process. So far the films have played NYC, LA, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Switzerland, Oaxaca, Connecticut, Arkansas and Philadelphia. In the works: we are hoping to bring our model of shooting multiple films at once, cross-cast and cross-crewed to Sheridan, Wyoming. We also will be returning to the Yucatán Peninsula in August of 2025 to shoot another project of three short films.
